What happens when waiting feels too long… and faith begins to feel passive?

In Part 6 of The Journey of Faith, we turn to Genesis 16, a chapter shaped by impatience, pressure, and the temptation to “help God along.” Ten years after the promise, Sarai and Abram face the tension between what God had said and what they could see—and the choices they make have lasting consequences.

Tomorrow’s devotional gently challenges two familiar extremes: running ahead of God in our own strength, and falling behind through silence or passivity. Through this passage—and a powerful picture Jesus later gave of walking yoked together—we’re invited to reflect on what it truly means to walk in step with the Lord.

If you’ve ever wrestled with waiting, control, or knowing when to act and when to trust, this reflection will speak into that space. Faith is not rushing ahead… and it’s not standing still. It’s learning to move with Him.
