“Come and Stay!” – Part 1

What happens when you finally decide to face something that has been left unresolved for far too long?
For Henry, the journey ahead is deeply personal. He knows where he needs to go and why he needs to go there—but knowing that doesn’t make taking the first steps any easier.
And then, while he is still on his way, an unexpected problem threatens to throw everything into doubt.
Yet what Henry cannot see is that pieces are already beginning to fall into place. An ordinary journey is about to become anything but ordinary, and an encounter he could never have planned will leave him wondering just how much of this journey has already been prepared for him.
Sometimes we only recognise God’s hand when we look back and realise He was present in details we thought were simply coincidences.

In this week’s devotional, Disciples on Mission, Jill explores what happened when Jesus took His followers from watching Him minister to actually stepping out and doing what He had called them to do.
They were ordinary people. They may have felt vulnerable, uncertain and unqualified. Yet Jesus sent them anyway.
And when they returned, excited by what they had experienced, Jesus had an important reminder for them about where their greatest joy should be found.
What does their mission have to say to us today? Are we waiting until we feel ready? Have we become distracted from what really matters? And what might happen if we became more available to God in the ordinary places of our lives?
Sometimes the Kingdom advances simply because someone is willing to go.
