As we read through the gospels we see that Jesus spent time in conversation with many different people. He spoke to Jews and to Gentiles, to rich and to poor, to those who were powerful and to those who were overlooked. He talked with men and women, saints and sinners, old and young. Whether the conversation took place in a public setting or a private one He spoke to each individual in a unique and personal way, His words reflecting His knowledge of that person and His profound understanding of their circumstances. On each occasion He drew out their inner thoughts and motives, He challenged their thinking and behaviour and He showed them the love of the Father.
In the coming series of devotionals we will be looking at these conversations and seeking to hear what God would say to us through them. The people Jesus spoke to when He was ministering on the earth may have lived a long time ago, but they experienced the same hopes and dreams, setbacks and sorrows as we do and Jesusโ words are just as relevant to us today.
I pray that you will get to know Jesus better as we study these conversations together.
