Some trees make an impression because of their height. Others because of their age. But the Cedar of Lebanon reminds us that true strength comes from something deeper — being firmly rooted and continually sustained by God.
A mighty cedar doesn’t survive simply because it looks strong. Beneath the surface, it depends on water, nutrients and the conditions God provides. In the same way, we can appear strong on the outside while desperately needing to draw our strength from the One who sustains us.
We live in a world that often celebrates independence: Be strong. Stand on your own. You don’t need anyone.
But the Kingdom of God teaches something different.
We were never created to live independently of Him.
When our roots go deep into God’s presence, His Word and His truth, we can withstand seasons that would otherwise overwhelm us. Growth may be slow. The circumstances may not change quickly. But beneath the surface, God can be strengthening something that will eventually become visible.
The question isn’t simply, “How strong do I look?” It’s “How deep are my roots?”

Reflection:
What am I currently drawing my strength from — my own ability, circumstances, other people, or God?
A line to carry with you:
“Strong faith isn’t about standing alone; it’s about being deeply rooted in the One who sustains us.”
Prayer:
Lord, help me to put down deep roots in You. When life feels uncertain, remind me that my strength doesn’t come from my circumstances or my own ability. Teach me to depend on You, to trust Your provision and to remain firmly planted in Your truth. May my life become strong, fruitful and steady because I am rooted in You. Amen.
